Marita Maher completed her Diabetes Education Graduate Certificate at Mayfield Education Melbourne in 2005, and became Credentialled as a Diabetes Educator in 2012. Marita was granted a Diabetes Educator Graduate Certificate of Scholarship through Novo Nordisk and ADEA in 2005.
Marita has worked as a Diabetes Educator at Ballarat Health Services. Marita has also worked at the Division of General Practice caring for the elderly population with Diabetes through the Aged Care Access Initiative. This specialised in looking at Diabetes Management of the elderly at Nursing Homes in Ballarat and regional areas.
Marita has also worked at Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital and BEGA Aboriginal Health Service in Kalgoorlie as a Diabetes Educator. Marita has had experience with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes in adults and paediatrics, Gestational Diabetes, and caring for the elderly with Diabetes. Marita is passionate about improving the health outcomes of people with Diabetes.
Marita also has gained qualifications as a Division One Registered Nurse at St John of God Hospital Ballarat in 1990, Bachelor of Nursing (Post Registration) at Ballarat University 1995, Graduate Diploma in Critical Care (Emergency Nursing) at La Trobe University Melbourne 1999, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 2008. Marita has had 22 years working as an Emergency Nurse in London, Melbourne, Ballarat, Broome and Kalgoorlie.
